What a wonderful day we have all had; preparing for Advent with Dan & Emily.
The day began with a staff prayer service, inviting us all to think about Mary, the Mother of Jesus, and how humble she was when she was asked to carry the Son of God; She said ‘Yes!’
Throughout the day the whole school came together to ‘Wait with Mary’ & prepare for the start of Advent. Children and staff, used the quiet time to pray & reflect on what Advent means to them; thinking about what they are doing to prepare their hearts & minds for the Birth of Jesus!
Everybody really enjoyed taking the time out of the usually busy curriculum, to spend time in prayer. The children were so reverent & respectful throughout the day and especially when we ended the day, just like we started, with a whole school prayer service!
We are extremely excited to light our first candle on the Advent Wreath next week, & look forward to the weeks ahead; KS1 Christmas Nativity & KS2 Carol Service!
Mr Pete Johnson, our Chair of Governors, visited us in school, to congratulate Y6 on their recent appointments of Head Boy/Girl and their Deputies. He also congratulated the Prefects for their work too. 😊 So proud of them all. 🙏💕🙏
The Head Boy/Girl & their Deputies will join us next week at the Governing Board Meeting; where they will discuss their recent experiences and put forward their ideas to support Mrs F & the SLT, in moving our school forward.
The beautiful Advent Tradition, Bambinelli Sunday, was instituted by Saint Pope John Paul II during his Papacy.
The tradition follows that on the Third Sunday of Advent (Gaudete Sunday) children and adults bring their Baby Jesus figures from their homes to St Peters Square where they are blessed by the Pope.
All children and families are invited to bring the Baby Jesus figure from their homes to be blessed. Families can make their own 'Bambinelli' if they wish.
Parishes around the world now join in the celebration, encouraging young children to make the connection between the Nativity set at home and the local church where they worship each weekend.
“It helps children and young people to prepare for Jesus.”
(Pope Francis)
At our last school Mass of the Term, Father Bruce will bless the Bambinelli that you have brought in from home.
Following the blessing, take your 'Bambinelli' home, wrap it and open it as a family on Christmas morning where the youngest member of the family would place it in the crib.
A gift of the presence of Christ in your home this Christmas.
This year we will celebrate 'Bambinelli Sunday' on December the 15th.
This is also the Children's Mass in church where the Liturgy team will read the readings and we will sing some of our school carols and songs.
Please bring your Bambinelli stones in on Monday 16th December (not before) so Father Bruce can bless them at Mass on Tuesday 17th December.

Today, we opened our brand new kitchen in school. All the staff & children loved the food; so much to choose from: homemade lasagne, pizza, baked potatoes, help yourself to the salad bar, and much, much more. The Lunch Bunch were on hand to offer support to the little ones as they battled with the new technology and tried to carry their trays for the very first time, and our new cook, Sue, 👩🏼🍳 said our children had impeccable manners. ☺️
It was wonderful to see how much the children enjoyed the food; some even had seconds; nothing going to waste.
We cannot wait to grow our own vegetables in the Spring Term, which we will then use to teach the children as part of our healthy eating programme ; cooking in the curriculum. 🍎🍌🥔🍓🥦🥕🌽🥒🥬🍨🌮🍕
