CAFOD Live Simply Award

The Live Simply Award is an opportunity for Catholic communities - parishes, schools, religious orders and chaplaincies - to respond to Pope Francis’ invitation in Laudato Si' to “work with generosity and tenderness in protecting this world which God has entrusted to us”.

As a school community we are on a journey with Christ towards the Live Simply Award.

Our 3 aims are to :

Live simply,
Live in solidarity with people in poverty,
Live sustainably with creation.

Loving God, you made this beautiful world that we all share.

Help us to live simply,

and be thankful for all that you have given us

Help us to look after our earth,

So that everyone may enjoy it.

Help us to share with others,

so that everyone has what they need.

Amen.

The Eco Warriors are in Birmingham looking at all our Climate Change artwork that is on display at St Martins Church! How fabulous! We’ve had a wonderful morning! 💜 All of this wonderful work has been on its own journey; first it was displayed in school, then it was displayed in the Cornbow Centre in Halesowen, from there it went to the Houses of Parliament in London for the Prime Minister & all the MPs to see & then on to St Martins Church in the Bullring in Birmingham- how fabulous is that! 💜 We are so proud of everyone for all their hard work, especially Mrs Morris, our Eco Champion in school! 🙏💜🙏

Some of our lovely Eco-council with the Livesimply Award, proudly displayed in our Mary Chapel.

Our work on Climate Justice is displayed in the Cornbow Centre in Halesowen. Pope Francis’s encyclical on ecology, Laudato Si, says that climate change is real and mainly “a result of human activity.” Solving climate change means protecting the planet and vulnerable people, and we must hear “both the cry of the earth and the cry of the poor.” Faith can guide us. “The entire material universe speaks of God’s love, his boundless affection for us. Soil, water, mountains – everything is, as it were, a caress of God.” The problems are big and urgent. But hope remains if we act in honesty and love. “Humanity still has the ability to work together in building our common home . . . Truly, much can be done!”
