At Our Lady & St Kenelm, we place Religious Education at the heart of the curriculum and our Catholic faith runs through everything we do. It is a fundamental part of the Catholic Life of our school which is further enhanced through Collective Worship opportunities. At OLSK, we recognise that every child is unique and created in the image of God. It is our aim to develop the whole child; to help them to grow in faith and love and to develop as global citizens with a maturing Christian awareness.
Season of Creation
As followers of Christ from around the globe, we share a common call to care for Creation. We are co-creatures and part of all that God has made. Our well-being is interwoven with the well-being of the Earth. We rejoice in this opportunity to safeguard our common home and all beings who share it with us. This year, the theme for the Season is “Living Water".
Pope Leo's Message for the World Day of Prayer for the Care of Creation, September 1
‘They shall beat their swords into plowshares and their spears into pruning hooks”
The Holy Father’s Message highlights the connection between armed conflict and environmental degradation. Such degradation constitutes both a serious violation of our duty to care for creation, as well as a long-term threat to the lives of hundreds of millions of people.
Written by the Liturgy and Worship group:
Spirit of God,
descend on me this day.
Grant me the Spirit of joy, to lift me,
the Spirit of hope to inspire me,
the Spirit of love to surround me and
the Spirit of truth to enlighten my path.
Holy Spirit,
I pray for a new outpouring of your grace,
so that I may grow in worship of your name
in love of you in my prayer
and in my actions towards others.
Come Holy Spirit into my life to guide me.
Strengthen and defend me,
so that I may be drawn ever closer to you.
Help me this day and always
to be a channel of grace
in all I say and do
and invite others into relationship with you.
Amen
