Thank you to those parents who were able to join class teachers for the welcome meetings in the first couple of weeks. We hope that you found them useful and we thank those parents who completed the Forms, for their feedback!
What parents said
'Very informative. Staff were very welcoming as usual. Lovely way to meet my child’s new teacher Lots of information which was really useful. Thank you'
'We attended one for Reception and one for year 2. Both were really useful in different ways. We had things we wanted to speak to staff about in Reception and it was the perfect opportunity to do that. Great to meet Mrs Hale too and discuss what to expect in the near future in terms of SEN. For the year 2 meeting, we didn't have anything we needed to discuss so it was just useful to have everything explained to us and a PowerPoint to go with it that we can refer to on the website too. We are really excited to see our children grow this year and are thrilled with the staffing for both Reception and Year 2. Really enthusiastic and caring staff who are really approachable.'
'Miss Carey delivered a great meeting. Very confident in her knowledge.'
'Very useful and informative. Nice opportunity to meet and chat with class teacher.'
'It was okay and introduced us to the new class arrangement and what is expected'
'Found the welcome meeting very useful. Was great to have an insight into the curriculum for this year and what we can expect in terms of homework. It also gave me some ideas as to how I can help my child to enhance their learning/reading. Thank you'
'Helpful.'
'Lovely welcome meeting with Mrs Harris. She made us all feel very welcome and explained the day to day routine in Year 4. She also put our minds at ease with regards to the times tables test, which I have to say I think my son is excited about!!! Looking forward to another exciting year. Many thanks.'
'It was really nice to meet the Yr 3 and YR teachers, such a beautiful meeting with the teachers and useful information they pass to us, because it really good when you know what teachers would like to expect from the kids...Thank you'
'Very welcoming, clear information. Didn't even have questions after it.'
'Very warm and welcoming and informative 😊'
'Very useful but slightly difficult to read some of the slides due to black font on a blue slide'
'Very informative with such a short meeting window. Clear Miss Carey had put in a lot of work to provide us with a lot of information, noted the class pages are already full of resources/additional info which is helpful. Miss Carey was very reassuring/clear in regards to expectations and helpfully answered questions on homework we have/what to expect.'
Any suggestions for future meetings/workshops?
'Thank you for all you do'
'No, they were really useful and well organised.'
'Maybe taking a little longer to explain some of the abbreviations but this also demonstrated that the teacher is very knowledgeable about their curriculum.'
'What phonics/ reading looks like in year 2'
'Not that I can think of at the moment'
'Is a cuppa and biscuit a bit cheeky!!!!'
'Well, I would say good meetings so far.'
'Face to face parents evenings'
'A link for zoom or MST teams for parents and carers who can’t attend in person.'
'Would also be nice to meet/have an introduction to the TAs who are working in class/with the children.'
As a result of your feedback
Add any abbreviations with explanations to the PowerPoint for parents to refer to.
Mrs Turner is leading a meeting about phonics in Pre School, YR, Y1 and Y2 for parents to come along. As well as this, parent workshops where you can see phonics in action with the children and join in!
As teachers and TAs are still working with children there is no time to set up tea and coffee for these meetings but we will see if Helping Hands can support with this at future events.
Face to face parents evening always happen in the Autumn term. To ensure that parents can have a longer time with the teacher in the Spring, these tend to be via Teams.
We take on board that meeting the TA is useful so we will see if next year, they can join staff for the Welcome to Class meetings.
THANK YOU FOR ALL OF YOUR FEEDBACK!
