St Francis of Assisi Retreat Day
Next Friday (2.10.26) we are having a St Francis of Assisi Retreat Day. To begin this day we will be having a lovely class prayer service in which we will be dedicating to animals. Please send your child in with a picture of their pets (if they have one) and we will add these to our prayer table.
Please also send your child in with a smooth, flat stone as we will be doing some stone art.

Free read Friday!
This Friday, we will be introducing Free Read Fridays!
Each Friday, children will have the opportunity to bring in a text of their own choice to enjoy during dedicated reading time. Our aim is to promote a love of reading and reading for pleasure, allowing children to explore texts that genuinely interest and excite them.
Children can bring in any type of text they enjoy, such as:
We will be dedicating some valuable time each Friday to simply enjoying books and reading for pleasure. We hope this will encourage children to discover new interests, share their recommendations with friends and, most importantly, develop a lifelong love of reading.
Please ensure that any texts brought into school are age-appropriate and clearly labelled with your child’s name.
We are really looking forward to starting our Free Read Fridays!

Welcome to Year One Meeting
Please join me for our Welcome to class meeting on Monday 7th September at 2.45pm. This meeting will provide you with information for the year ahead and outline the expectations for Year One. Please wait outside of the Phiz Lab door where I will be there to greet you.

Autumn 1 Info
I hope you have had a wonderful summer making wonderful memories with your families! I am so excited to welcome you into Year 1. Please see below some important information for the term ahead.
First day back:
Please send your child in full school uniform and with their completed summer transition pack.
Other information:
Please ensure all jumpers, cardigans, book bags and water bottles are clearly labelled to avoid any things getting misplaced.
PE days will be on Tuesdays and Wednesdays. Please send your child in PE kit on these days. No earrings on these days please.
Once the children have settled into Year One they will receive some homework tasks. There will be short handwriting/spelling/maths activity sent out every Friday and it is due in for the following Friday. The children will have a short history research task to complete every Thursday to enable them to gain some prior knowledge for the following lesson.
We will continue to change books on Mondays and Thursdays. Books will only be changed if they have been read three times at home.

7th September: Welcome to class meeting (2.45pm)
25th September: Wear green for MacMillan
2nd October: Individual photos
8th October: Y1 leading Mass in school
16th October: Wear bright colours for CAFOD & Harvest
