D&T in Action
In DT today, in Y1, we attached the different parts from our structure to create our windmills and made sure that they were stable.
Year 2 made linkages in D&T yesterday! Not only were their DT skills brilliant, but they showed such perseverance and resilience during a tricky task.
In D&T this week, Y1 made the sails of their windmills by using their cutting skills.
In Y1 our new D&T topic is Structures and we are going to be constructing windmills. Today we explored how to make our structures stable by using the wider base and adding weight to it.
Year 6 are working really hard in their textiles lessons where they are designing and making waistcoats. Today we used a template for the panels of our waistcoats.
DT in Action 2025-2026
Year 1 have had a great time beginning to assemble their own moving story books. They have used a design criteria and a template to create their characters.
Y1 have been exploring using mechanisms today and made their own 'rabbit in a hat' using a slider.

Year 3 enjoyed making unleavened bread. They practiced the skills of stirring, kneading and rolling.
Y1 have made their final structure today for redesigning Baby Bears chair. We used all the techniques we had been shown and made some great models of chairs.
Year 1 have had a great time exploring how to make different joints in D&T. We are trying to help Baby Bear rebuild his chair.
Year 3 used construction kits to build their shell structures.

Year 3 are linking their D&T work with their History topic of the Stone Age. They have explored shell structures and have now designed their own.
