Harvest Assembly

We celebrated the harvest in style with our wonderful whole school assembly. We were treated to singing, poems and prayers and everyone left feeling joyful and grateful for all that God has given to us!

What did parents think?

'The performances were wonderful and very uplifting. Well done to all the staff and children!'

'All the children were exceptional! It was a lovely celebration to be apart of! Well done to all the teachers and staff for their hard work on it!'

'All performances were brilliant! I had tears in my eyes. Loved it very much! Well done everybody!'

'The assembly was lovely and you could tell the children rehearsed hard. Sadly I couldn't hear the final class as there was a toddler screaming behind me!'

'A really lovely harvest celebration 😁'

'All year groups were absolutely brilliant! It was my first time attending an assembly as my little girl has just started in pre school and everyone was fantastic! I know how hard it is to put on such wonderful performances with children so well done to the fabulous staff!'

'They all did so well. Year fours singing was lovely and receptions performance was very cute.'

'I honestly cannot thank you all enough for everything I witnessed today, absolutely amazing. The school ethos really showed through, thank you.'

'Excellent performances. Well done to all children and staff who have worked hard to make those performances happen.'

'The children were amazing, thank you to all staff for hard work'

'I thoroughly enjoyed the performance, it was evident how much hard work had been put in by the children and staff alike. As usual OLSK performance did not disappoint!!'

'Absolutely wonderful event. The children were amazing. The staff work so hard to give our children amazing opportunities to share what they have learnt. The children have a clear understanding about how to help others who are less fortunate than themselves. Thank you'

'Every class performance was beautiful, children knew their words/actions. A good variety of singing, poetry etc.'

'All performance was outstanding 👏'

'Lovely harvest celebration assembly all the children were involved and learnt good values from these performances'

Any improvements for future performances?

'I don’t think a “whole school” performance is fair on people who have to get to work or have little ones. It’s too long and we are made to feel awkward about leaving after watching our own child'

'None, please keep the brilliant work up going forward. God bless you all.'

'Two performances across the week to allow those who work more chance to attend'

'I was disappointed by the ignorance of some of the parents in the audience. I was sat in front of a lady with a young child, I understand people wanting to bring siblings along but the young child was constantly kicking my chair throughout the performance. I did tell the lady and she was encouraging her child to stop. I struggled to see the children performing as once again the lady in front of me had a young child who kept allowing her child to stand on her lap obscuring my view. I struggled to hear some of the children speaking (my child included) as all I could hear was YouTube on someone’s phone which their young child was watching to keep them occupied during the performance. I understand and remember what my children was like at those ages and it is difficult but it is just very gutting when you know how much time and effort your child has put into his lines etc and felt nervous before hand, to not even be able to hear/see him in the actual performance.'

'It was so busy- standing room only'

'None, great performance overall.'

As a result of your feedback

'We will be reminding parents that we are a 'no phones' school so they should switch off their devices as soon as they enter the building to ensure that performances are not interrupted by phone calls, texts or noises from the internet.'

'We are unable to perform twice during the days because, as you can imagine, it takes up a large portion of teaching and learning time with just the one performance. We do offer two performances of the Nativities and Carol Concerts later in the term,'

'We foster an atmosphere of inclusion and celebration of everyone. This would not happen if parents were coming and going throughout the assembly. It is also very off putting not to mention disrespectful to the children about to perform if a large group of the audience got up and left because, 'they had seen their child'.

'Unfortunately, young children can be a distraction but we do ask parents to sit near the exit so that if they get fussy, they can leave. We also expect the adults watching to be respectful of those around them and ensure that they are treated respectfully and are able to enjoy the performances without being distracted or their view, blocked. This in parents hands as we cannot control this.'

Thank-you to everyone who was able to attend and all who took the time to give us some feedback.
