What is expected of you in Year 3?
We have an exciting year planned for you with lots of great opportunities to grow and develop. You're going to have so much fun learning new things, making new friendships and setting an excellent example for the children in Key Stage 1 to follow.
We expect you to do the right thing and try your hardest at everything that is asked of you. You have lots of teachers to help you but as you're in Key Stage 2 now, we expect you to try and help each other too and bring out the best in yourself and everyone around you, just like our Mission Statement asks.
During Lent we will be learning all about Reconciliation and if you are Catholic, you will be receiving this Sacrament in church with Father Stefan. Then in June, you will be making your First Holy Communion which is such a special Sacrament and means that you will be able to receive the host in church. If you're not Catholic, you will still be learning all about these Sacraments and will be invited to join in at the celebrations, if you are able to.
Class Dojo and Minutes
This year, we will be using Dojos again - you each have a little monster character and you will earn points from teachers for all the good and kind things you do around school.
As usual, we will be having Golden Time on a Friday, but this year, because you are in Key Stage 2, you will be able to choose an activity yo take part in like, playing on the equipment outside, 'Just Dance' in the hall or time on the ipads and Chrome books.
Remember though, if you make the wrong behaviour choices, you will have minutes taken off that time so try to do the right things.
What homework will I get?
Our first Enquiry Based Learning topic this year is all about counties and countries in the UK. I know that you will love learning about it and will find out lots of amazing things! You will be given your enquiry question every week with a week to complete it. Remember- you need your research to help you with your learning so make sure it is done on time.
You will also have maths and literacy homework and spellings every week and you will get a whole week to complete and practise these too. If you lose your homework- please come and ask one of the team before the day it is due so you can get a new sheet. Remember if it is not done at home you will have to do it in your own time at school.
Swimming and PE
We will be having swimming every Monday so please dress in your PE kit and remember to bring your swimming kit.
PE will be on Wednesdays as usual and you can wear your PE kit again.
If you have pierced ears, you must take your earrings out or ask one of your parents to take them out before school on the days we have PE and swimming.
We are looking forward to a fabulous year ahead and we hope you have a lovely time.
See you soon!
