π Creation and Covenant
The Bible begins with a wonderful story: God created the world!
In the beginning, God made the heavens and the earth.
He created:
βοΈ The sun and the moon
β The stars
π The oceans and rivers
π³ Plants and trees
π Animals of every kind
π¨π©π§ People
God looked at everything He had made and saw that it was very good.
God made people special. He created us to know Him, love Him, care for His creation, and live in friendship with Him.
A covenant is a special promise or agreement.
Throughout the Bible, God made covenants with His people. A covenant shows that God wants a relationship with us and that He can be trusted.
One example is God's covenant with Noah.
After the flood, God placed a rainbow in the sky as a sign of His promise. God promised that He would never again destroy the earth with a flood.
π The rainbow reminds us of God's promise.
Creation shows us that God made us.
Covenant shows us that God wants to be in relationship with us.
God did not simply create the world and walk away. He continued to care for His people and make promises to them.
We can respond to God's love by:
Creation: God made the world and everything in it.
Covenant: God makes special promises and invites people into a relationship with Him.
God created us, loves us, and keeps His promises.
“God saw all that he had made, and it was very good.”
— Genesis 1:31
