Autumn

Year 1 had fun playing games today on our last day of term.

Look at our beautiful Nativity scene Christmas cards. We used a pivot lever to make Mary gently rock baby Jesus to sleep.

We have been learning about how ‘sliders’ can make pictures move. We made Santa go up and down the chimney using a slider mechanism.

We had fun learning how to greet each other and how to count in Spanish today. We learned about the Spanish Royal family and made flags. We also tasted some yummy Spanish foods. 🇪🇸🫒🧀🥓

Year 1 enjoyed some creative time with art activities during choosing time this afternoon.

Year 1 sang and signed their hearts out during our Harvest Festival today! We are so very proud of them- well done everyone! What an amazing turn out of parents and carers-thank you for all your generous food donations.

We have been comparing two numbers by building towers with cubes and placing them side by side. Then using straws to see which number is ‘greater than’ or ‘less than’ or ‘equal to.’

We have been observing signs of autumn around school and in our local area. We found lots of autumn treasures!

We have been making repeating patterns using leaves, stones and cones in our outdoor classroom.

We have been focussing on the language of ‘fewer and more’ in our maths work this week. We have also been finding one more or one less than a number.

We have been talking about the different celebrations that we have shared with our family and community. Together we planned a celebration for Mary’s birthday in class.

We are so proud of the children and how they have settled seamlessly into Year 1. They have shown real enjoyment in learning together this week.
