What were the achievements of the Ancient Greeks and how did they impact the Western world?

In this history driven study, we will also be exploring the  geography curriculum through the key question - 'What were the achievements of the Ancient Greeks and how did they impact the Western World?'

As historians, we will aim to know and understand the significance of ancient civilizations such as Ancient Greece and how Britain has been influenced by their achievements. We will gain a historically grounded understanding of the abstract terms 'empire', 'civilization' and 'democracy'.

As geographers, we will revisit and refine our geographical skills throughout this topic, using maps and atlases to locate cities and counties within the Europe. We will use and interpret a range of geographical sources including maps, aerial photographs and diagrams.

As artists, we will study the artistic legacy of Ancient Greece, including both pottery and architecture.

Throughout this study we will be continually revisiting and refining our skills and knowledge. Therefore, our 'golden nuggets' of knowledge will be embedded into our long term memories!
