St Francis of Assisi

Feast Day: 4th October

  • St Francis was born in Assisi, Italy in 1181.
     

  • He was born into a very wealthy family but he decided to give up all of his worldly possessions to follow God.
     

  • He is known for being the Saint of all animals. 
     

  • St Francis died in 1226 and was canonized just 2 years later in 1228. 
     

  • Our current Pope took the name "Francis" after him.
     

  • The Feast Day of St Francis is on 4th October.
