We looked at a painting by a Russian artist called Wassily Kandinsky. It was a winter landscape but the artist has used different colours instead of white snow. We talked about the colours we could see and why we thought he had chosen them. We tried to copy his style and colours in our work.
We built models from 3d shapes and talked to our partner about the names of our shapes.
It was Languages Day in school today and Year 1 were learning about the country of Spain and their language-Spanish. We learned how to greet each other at various times of the day. We also learned to count to 12 in Spanish. We made our own flags and even tasted some Spanish foods. What a great learning experience!
We made bread today as part of our science topic and cooking in the curriculum. We read the story of ‘The Little Red Hen’ and discussed where bread comes from.
We are so proud of all our children as they showed so much reverence and respect whilst leading mass today. A huge Thank you to our parents for helping them to practise their readings, which they read very confidently!
Being a Steward of God’s creation. This week’s CST focus is Stewardship of God’s creation. We found the story Greta and the Giants very inspiring and created our own posters to encourage everyone to stop and listen. We also did our own litter picking to care for our beautiful school grounds and used ICT to create our own promises, just like Greta.
Team work in maths. Creating number lines with numbers to ten.
Having fun during active play this afternoon.
We have been learning about the ‘changing seasons’ as part of our Science topic and we have been focussing on the season of Autumn.
