Children will have opportunity to build on their prior geographical learning of Y1 to extend their geographical knowledge to non-European countries. Children will also revisit and build upon the geography earning from year two- local geography- and extend upon skills taught previously. Children will learn compare the physical features of UK and a non-European country and think about how and where food is produced. They will use locational knowledge about individual places and environments in the local area, the UK and the wider world.
Children will have opportunity to build on their prior historical learning of Y1 (changes in living memory) to extend their historical knowledge to event beyond living memory. Children will also revisit and build upon the history learning from year two– Does the past change the present?- to see if event from the past have influence thinking in the present.
Children will learn about events beyond living memory that are significant nationally or globally and how these events have impacted different groups of people. We will explore how vulnerable people were effected by different events and compare it to events happening in their own lives.
We will be learning in particular about The Great Fire of London- where and when it started, how different groups of people were impacted and whether solidarity was shown.
