Summer Term Updates
What a lovely term we having so far! I can't believe there are only 3 weeks left until our children move up into Year 1! This year has gone so quickly. Just a few updates that you need to be aware of for the coming weeks.
Thank you for your continued support.
Collection for Ukraine - Friday 25th March
For this Friday’s non-uniform day, Reception class and Pre-school can come to school wearing the colours of the Ukrainian flag and will be collecting items to support the humanitarian crisis in Ukraine. All items collected will be taken to a drop off point in Brierley Hill and transported over to the bordering countries of Ukraine to go directly to those in desperate need.
We will be collecting the following items:
Please feel free to donate as much or a little as you are able to. We will be talking to the children about donating any of their own items that they no longer use (blankets, clothes, shoes), as this will help them to understand that their kindness can really make a difference to those in need.
Grandparents Afternoon
The children from Pre-School and Reception would like to invite a grandparent into school next Friday afternoon, to celebrate their learning journeys and enjoy a drink and a cake together in the school hall. This is will tie in with our ‘Book of the Week’, Little Red Riding Hood, and the children's learning about their extended families. This is a lovely opportunity for the children to celebrate their achievements with their grandparents and share their wonderful work. One grandparent per child is invited to join us at 2.30pm on Friday 25th March in the school hall. Please wear a mask unless you are exempt.
Stay and Pray
As part of our Lenten Journey, Reception class would like to invite their parents to join us for our ‘Wednesday Word’ prayers on Wednesday 30th March and Wednesday 6th April – 8:45–9.10am in our classroom.
Updates – 4.3.22
Thank you for all your support so far this year. We’ve had a lovely first week back, and the children have all settled well after the half term break. Please read the following information carefully, as it includes some important updates for the term ahead.
PE Days – Our PE days for this half term will be Monday and Wednesday. Children must come to school in their PE kit on both of these days, and no longer need to bring their kit on a Thursday.
Open Afternoon: On Monday 14th March, we are having an open afternoon in Reception class for you to come and spend time with your child, looking through all the wonderful work they have completed so far this year. One parent is welcome to join us at 2.30-3pm on this day.
Parent Consultations: Parent consultations will be via Teams this term. A letter will be sent out today containing your child’s login details. Please follow the link below to access Teams through RM Unify. Please check in advance of your consultation that you are able to log in.
Welly Wednesday: Please remember to send your child with their forest school kit every Wednesday – more and more children have been coming without kit in the last few weeks. This needs to be old, warm clothes and a waterproof, as we go out to forest school in all weathers. If possible, and if you haven’t already done so, please send in a pair of wellies that can be kept in school.
Reading Books: Reading books need to be sent into school every day in your child’s book bag – we hear the children read at different times throughout the week and therefore their books need to be in school every day. Reading at home with your child is vital for their progression – we suggest reading with your child every night or at least three times per week.
A reminder about PE and Forest School Days
Welcome back! I hope you all had a wonderful break and enjoyed your Christmas celebrations! We look forward to welcoming the children back tomorrow – I’m sure they will have so much to tell us! Please see the notes below, which include information for the term ahead.
Please also note that Miss Beasley and Mrs Nixon will be teaching in Reception for the first couple of days, and I will be back in school soon. Please make your children aware of this so they know what to expect when returning to school tomorrow.
I can’t wait to see you all soon.
Miss Harris

Reminders - Come in school uniform.
The children can bring a small bag a sweets. Please remind your child that they are just for them and not to share, as we have children with allergies

For the rest of this half term, PE days will be as follows:

Thursday - On Thursdays, the children will be working on their bike riding skills in PE, but WILL NOT need their PE kit on these days.
Show and Tell
For the rest of this term in Reception class, we will be having ‘Show and Tell’ sessions every Friday afternoon. As part of these sessions, children are invited to bring in an item from home that they would like to show to the rest of the class and tell us about. The rest of the class will have the chance to ask your child questions about their item. This is a great opportunity for the children to practise their speaking and listening skills and also develop their self-confidence when speaking to a group. For details of your child’s ‘Show and Tell’ session, please find your child's initials on the timetable below.

PLEASE NOTE – only one parent can attend per child and we ask that parents wear masks in the building.
Parents will be invited to the assembly via text if their child has been chosen.
WELLY WEDNESDAYS!
Every Wednesday we will be having 'Welly Wednesdays' in Early Years, where we creating, playing, exploring and learning in our wonderful Forest School area! This will mean that every Wednesday, children will need to bring with them their 'Forest School Kit'. This should include wellies, old clothes and a waterproof (ideally something that they change into independently). As the weather changed often, children should ALWAYS have wellies and a waterproof for forest school. We will start the day in school uniform, and then get changed for Forest School in the afternoon.
Date for your diary:
Open afternoon on Tuesday 12th October at 2.30pm. This is a lovely afternoon to share in your child's learning. You come to the classroom and sit with your child as they show you all the super work they have done this half term. We hope you can come.
Welcome Service with Father Stephan
On Wednesday 29th September at 2.30pm, Father Stephan will be coming to welcome our new reception children to our school family and give them his blessing. The children will attend the service in the school hall with their Year 6 prayer partners, and parents are also welcome to join us.

We hope to see you there!
