RSHE UPDATE IMPORTANT 19/01/24

In Unit 4 – Life Cycles, as from Monday 22nd January, children will learn about God’s design for creating new life through a more nuanced understanding of menstruation, fertility, conception, foetal development in the womb and childbirth. Some sessions talk about sexual intercourse within the context of marriage being God’s plan for the place of sex within a relationship. Framed within the Christian understanding of eternal life, a further session on death and grief helps pupils to consider and communicate about death in a direct yet gentle way, and consider ways to support themselves and others.

A separate parents-only version of this session has also been provided to allow parents the opportunity to introduce these matters at their own time and choosing. This lesson upholds and supports the teaching of the Catholic Church on sex and marriage whilst also discussing other types of relationships.

The Life to the Full programme is based on the structure of ‘A Model Catholic RSE Curriculum’ by the Catholic Education Service. This model curriculum was highlighted as a work of good practice by the Department of Education so we therefore have confidence that the programme will be fit for purpose in supporting the growth and development of your child.

Life to the Full is much more than a series of lessons. It is an entire platform of creative resources that will engage, inform and inspire our children and, indeed, you as parents. This includes interactive video content, story-based activities, employing a wide range of teaching tools, original worship music and an accompanying programme of classroom prayers.

In addition, there will be an online parent platform so that you, as parent and carers, can engage with the teaching and deepen the experience for your child.

To access the online parent platform please visit: www.tentenresources.co.uk/parent-portal

As part of our subscription to "Life to the Full", all parents will be able to access the Online Parent Portal with the following login credentials:

Life to the Full is intended to be partnership between home, school and church. We know that you already do a fantastic job and we see our new programme, Life to the Full, as a means to further develop, support and enrich the partnership between home, school and church so that your child is fully supported.

Any questions please don't hesitate to contact me.

Thank you, Miss Woodfield.

What is the difference between surviving and living?

This Spring half term we will be focusing on Settlement and Land Use as a geography driver. Please gather all the information you can to help you with your research ready for Thursday 18th January 2024.
You can find some interesting discoveries on the BBC Bitesize website, Purple Mash or visit the local library!

Your 2nd question is: What are the links between historical settlements?

Your research could include, but not limited to;

  • Chronological order of settlements.
  • Research the meanings of places.
    E.g. Lancaster (er refers to a place with a castle).

15.01.24 Please remember to sign your child's reading record every night. If your child has lost their record, the charge is £2.
