Children have gone baking mad over the last few weeks, baking cakes to support the work of the Mini Vinnies; Turning Concern into Action!
We we are also hosting a non uniform day on Friday £1 to wear your own clothes- come to school wearing the colours of the Mini Vinnie Badge! All monies raised will be added to the Bake Off!
Wow!! Look at all the efforts the children have gone to! The winners will be announced on Friday in Assembly! Good luck everyone!
This term our children will be thinking about vocations with a focus on the question - Who is God calling me to be? This will culminate in a Vocations Week Monday June 18th - Friday 22nd June. They will be participating in activities to help them explore their Smart Gifts and consider their personal aspirations and vocation. Parents/Carers have also been invited to come into school and share their own vocations. At home children will be researching a person who has used their vocation for the benefit of others to produce a project to share during Vocations Week.

Congratulations to all the children who took part in the Mini Vinnie Bake Off Competition. We had a very hard job judging them, as they all are winners but the winning few were congratulated in Congratulations Assembly toda.
All momies raised from the Bake Off and from our non- uniform day today, will go to supporting the Birmingham Children’s Hospital. Thank you to all the parents for your support & for your overwhelming generosity.
What a wonderful reenactment of the First Mass this afternoon; presented by Fr Bruce & the children in Y3!
Thank you to the staff for all their hard work preparing the children for this very special occasion! A huge thank you to all the parents for the cakes and biscuits for the whole school to enjoy! 😊
Today, in a very special Mass, led by the children in Y6, we honoured Mary, the mother of Christ, by crowning her in a service of procession. All of the children bought in flowers & plants to celebrate Mary’s special month of the Rosary; which will be displayed on the class Altars or planted in the Mary Garden outside.
We thank all the children who made up the procession today & Fr Bruce for leading us during the Mass. it was a truly wonderful morning in the May sunshine & we are truly thankful to all the parents, parishioners & governors, who joined us for this special occasion.
We we dedicate this month to Mary by praying the Rosary every day. Please take a moment out of your busy day, to pray to Mary; she is listening to your prayers. Children will have the opportunity to bring in their Rosary Beads to pray to Mary in the Mary Garden or the Peace Garden- you are welcome to use these sacred spaces for prayer during the mornings before school, or at the end of the day.
Tonight in Church, the Presidents, Izzy & Sophie, along with their Vice President, Dominica, shared all that they have achieved and their planned Summer Term Project; OLSK Bake Off, with the members of the Parish at their termly SVP Meeting.
They were invited to the meeting by Mike Weaver, who leads the SVP in Church, to share their ideas. The girls prepared a speech to read at the meeting, to celebrate all that they have achieved so far. The children in school are really committed to their Vocation; Turning Concern Into Action; and have pledged to raise enough money to buy gifts for the children at the Birmingham Children’s Hospital.
Mrs Finnegan stated; “These girls are so passionate about their Mission, and in turn, they pass this enthusiasm to all the other children in school. They are driven by the need to make a change; make a difference, and we couldn’t be any prouder of them.” Well done girls! 🙏🙂🙏
School Councillors meet the Dudley Lord Mayor
Today, the Y5 & Y6 Councillors met the Lord Mayor at Dudley Council House. Councillor Laura Taylor, who came to school to talk with the school council in March, arranged for the children to visit the Lord Mayor & sit in his official chair in the Council Chambers. The children had the opportunity to ask many questions about his official clothes and chains, he wears when he attends official event.
Councillor Dave Tyler was officially sworn in on 18 May 2017 as the first citizen of the borough at a civic ceremony in front of a packed council chamber.
He said:
“It is a huge honour and a privilege to be Mayor of this borough and something I am proud to take on.
Councillor Tyler also named his wife Barbara as Mayoress who will accompany him on civic visits and fly the flag for the borough.
Mrs Finnegan & the children had a great afternoon & even had time for tea & biscuits in the Lord Mayors Office!

Once all the Good Shepherd houses filled with pennies, have been returned & counted by Mrs Jones & Mrs McNarry, the Y6 Liturgy Leaders will join other schools in our Diocese to present the cheque at the Good Shepherd Mass at the Cathedral, later this term.
Please continue to bring in your donations and we will let you know the final amount raised.
Thank you, once again, for your generosity.
