  • Attention musicians of OLSK!

Mon 19 Apr 2021 Miss Harris

    Attention musicians of OLSK!

I have exciting news for you all! This year, you are invited to take part in a 'one time only' Virtual Music Showcase, where we will be showcasing the talent of the incredible musicians we have here at OLSK. Live performances are still not possible, but we’re not going to let that stop us!

How is it going to work?

Musicians throughout school (that’s you!) will prepare a performance of a piece they have been learning in their music lessons, ready to video record at home and send in to Miss Harris. These videos will then be joined together to create a final performance which will be uploaded to the website for our whole school family to watch! There is no rush, so make sure you get plenty of practice so that you can give your very best performance.

PLEASE ENSURE VIDEOS ARE RECORDED IN A LANDSCAPE ORIENTATION.

    Who can take part?

All musicians are invited to take part, as long as you have instrument lessons (either with DPA or a private teacher). Please let me know if you wish to take part so I have an idea of numbers.

When do I need to send in my video?

I will need to have received all video submissions by Friday 11th June to allow time for the final performance to be prepared.

How do I submit a video performance?

Videos will need to be emailed to me at kharris@our-lady.dudley.sch.uk

Please let me know what your piece is called, and if it is a graded piece (e.g. for a Grade 2 exam).

When will the performance go live on the website?

The final video performance will go live on the website during the final weeks of term and will be watched in school by all the children and staff.

Please come and speak to me in school if you wish to take part or have any questions.  Make sure you bring your music along with you so we can discuss which piece you are going to perform.

I have really missed hearing music around school and can’t wait to showcase your talent to the rest of the school!

    Miss Harris

  • Parent Newsletter from Ten Ten

    Thu 15 Apr 2021

    April 2021

We are in the season of Eastertide – when we reflect on the joy of the resurrection and look forward with hope to the arrival of the Holy Spirit at Pentecost. It strikes us at Ten Ten that this change in the Church season, from the penitence of Lent to our current season of celebration, is reflected in the world through the new life of spring and the hope brought by schools reopening, vaccines and the promise of lifted restrictions! We hope and pray that your spirits are lifted through this time.

  • Update on Mrs F

    Fri 12 Mar 2021

    Good morning everyone,

You might have noticed that Mrs  F hasn't been in school this week.  Unfortunately she was taken ill over the weekend and the doctors are looking at her gall bladder and her kidneys for any stones that may be causing her to feel so poorly!  She was gutted not be on the gate with me to welcome all of our wonderful children back on Monday but rest assured, she will return once her doctors say she can! Please keep her in your prayers for a quick recovery.

In the meantime, I have taken the lead at school with the help of the SLT team behind me. Mrs F is so passionate about succession planning, she has always made sure that I am fully in the loop with every decision she makes and everything going on in school. School continues to function successfully and staff are working as hard ever, especially with the return of all of our wonderful children. I feel privileged to work with such an inspirational and supportive team of staff.

Today we are celebrating a belated World Book Day so children and staff have fully embraced dressing up and are spending the day celebrating books and reading.

I hope you all have a lovely weekend and Happy Mother's Day to all of the Moms - I hope you are spoilt on Sunday!

    God Bless

    Love Mrs Turner 😊 X

  • Complaint about parking!

    Tue 09 Mar 2021

What a shame that after such a lovely start to the week with our children returning yesterday we have now received a complaint from the residents of Otterbourne Court about some of our parents and their inconsiderate parking up Bundle Hill dropping children off in the morning and picking them up in the afternoon.

I know that this is a small minority but the reputation of our school and ALL of its parents is being tarnished by a small number of selfish parents. No-one should be parking on Bundle Hill apart from residents.  All car-parks in Halesowen are free to park in for up to 2 hours.

We are totally embarrassed to be told by a local resident, that parents had abused them verbally, when asked to move their van/car from blocking their drive and the kerbsides around the entrance to the houses and the garages by the flats. This is not what we expect from a parent who chooses a Catholic school for their children. Much of Bundle Hill is PRIVATE LAND and residents have the right to challenge people who park without any thought for others. How would you like to have people blocking the entrances to your homes! We're sure that you would object too!

We advise all parents to read the ‘ParkSafe’ scheme on the Newsletters area that was introduced by the Dudley Neighbourhood Policing Unit.  Details have been given to the local residents and along with us, we will report any parent/carer who illegally or irresponsibly parks to the police, which may result in a fixed penalty notice and or court action.

We are teaching our children to treat others with respect, tolerance and love and we hope that you, as parents, are doing the same through your actions. We urge you all to work with us on this. Children will learn by following your actions, make them the right ones!

    Thank-you!
