We had a peaceful afternoon of listening and talking to God through prayer, hymns and sharing. Dan and Emily led this afternoon superbly (albeit virtually). As always, the singing was so powerful and gave us all an opportunity to reflect and prepare. Thank you OneLifeMusic.
We are delighted to say that Ava in Y6 has been selected to represent England at the upcoming Dance World Cup. We are so proud of all your hardwork and dedication to developing your God-given talent and now you get to showcase it on the biggest stage of all!
We’ll be watching and cheering you on!
A huge congratulations to all our Golden Book winners this week, well done for shining out in all your learning! We are so proud of you all!
A message for all musicians at OLSK...
Just a quick reminder that there are four weeks to go until videos need to be submitted (deadline is Friday 11th June) for the Virtual Music Showcase. If you have not yet let me know that you’ll be taking part, please come and see me! There is still plenty of time (you will have a whole week during Half Term) if you have not yet started practising.
Please see the earlier post on Latest News for the full details.
** Please can children be wearing their school uniform in their video performance. Thank you.
Miss Harris
As we all know, during the pandemic, cancer has not gone away. We, as a school community, have all been affected in one way or another by this dreadful and indiscriminate disease and we want to help in our own way to find a cure.
Every year we take part in the Race For Life to support cancer research and the amazing work that it does. In June, each class in school will be running the Race for Life to raise money for Cancer Research UK. This is a charity very close to our hearts here at OLSK. Let's see how much money we can raise to help beat cancer for good!
This year it couldn't be easier to make a donation as Race For Life has set up our own fundraising page. You can donate whatever amount you can afford and as it is online please share it with your friends, family and colleagues.

Please give generously!
On Thursday this week, Y3 will be leading us in Holy Mass, dedicated to Mary, our mother, during this Month of May!
If you would like to donate flowers for our Prayer Tables, or a plant for the Mary Garden, please send them in with your child! Love from Mrs F 🙏💐
This week, some of our year 4 children have been working hard to design a new blog for Key Stage 2. The blog has been created to help develop and support children's computing and ICT skills across the curriculum. The blog will include a half termly competition that we would like all Key Stage 2 children to take part in - one winner will be selected from Years 3/4 and one winner from Years 5/6.
Other things you can expect to see on the blog include; game and app reviews, useful links and children's work. The blog will be available on Purple Mash from 3pm on Wednesday 28th April. We would like to thank Wiktoria, Ivanah, Nuala, Lucia, Emmie and Izabella for all their hard work! And our students from Newman University, who have lead the project. Thank you Miss Cope and Miss Williams!
Starting on Tuesday 27th April, years 3 and 5 will begin weekly swimming lessons at Haden Hill Leisure Centre.
We have conducted a full risk assessment alongside the risk assessments of both the coach company and the swimming baths to ensure that it is safe for our children to return to swimming. If we did not believe that it was safe, we would not be sending the children. As always, the classes will be going at different times so that no bubbles are crossed.
To ensure that things run as smoothly as possible, we will be asking all children in Year 3 and 5 to come dressed in PE kits on a Tuesday like they do on Wednesday. This will make getting changed quicker and easier so that the whole process is smoother and easier for both children and staff.
Additionally, Year 3 will be returning to school at approximately 3.05, therefore in order to ensure social distancing up the hill, ALL Year 3 children will leave at 3.15 on a Tuesday, regardless of siblings.
Thank you for your ongoing support,
Mr Hyde
