Today, we said goodbye to Ann North, our chief cleaner, who retired today after many years of service to our school. All of the children performed a poem, a song and Y6, including Mr Brown, dressed up and danced to 'I want to break free' by Freddy Mercury! All of the classes presented Anne with cards, the staff presented her with gifts, including a lifetime achievement award and our Chair of Governors, Mr John Welsh, thanked Ann from all the Governors, past and present! Many staff who had previously worked with Ann came to celebrate and say their goodbyes too.
We thank her for her dedication and service she has provided over the many years that she has been with us. We hope that she enjoys her retirement and we wish her all the luck in the world. Thank you Ann, from all the staff, Governors, parents and children at OLSK!
Today, Mrs Ann North and her wonderful team, were presented with a plaque and a certificate for 'Cleaning Team of the Year 2015.' Mark Diggory, from Dudley Environmental Team, came to present the team with their award! Mark went on to add to his congratulations, that we are the only school to achieve 100% for 8 consecutive years! Wow! What an accolade! We congratulate Ann and her team for their hard work and commitment over the years. Well done!!
On Tuesday 20th May, our Y6 Liturgy Leaders travelled with Miss Costello and Mrs Foley to St Chad's Cathedral, in Birmingham, to take part in the Fr Hudson's Mass and present our school cheque for the money we raised for Fr Hudsons! Thank you to all our children and parents who saved all their pennies to support those who are less fortunate than ourselves!
After months of preparation, 10 of our year 6 pupils were enthused and excited to take their science projects to Birmingham university. There, they were asked to display their projects, talk about them and hold an interview about their projects to three lots of judges.
The children began the day feeling anxious and nervous, but as time went by, they soon got into the feel of the science vibe and were able to deliver confident speeches about their posed question and their results.
After projects from 3 schools were judged, we were delighted to find out that two of our children from Our Lady and Saint Kenelm had been placed second and third! What a fantastic result for all of our budding scientists! I thank the children for their impeccable behaviour and endless enthusiasm!

MUD RUN: Father Hudson’s Society and Kenelm Youth Trust (Alton, Soli and BCYS) are organising a joint Mud Run at Alton, Staffordshire on the 28th June 2015 and would love your support by either running or walking the race yourself (as long as you are over 16) or coming along to watch and support on the day at Alton in Staffordshire, and lastly by sponsoring the runners. Any families with children aged 5 years – 13 years will be pleased to know that at Alton Castle a mini Mud Run will be available to the children along with a climbing wall activity. They are asking that each runner pledges to raise £50 sponsorship, as well as the £25 registration fee (which goes to the organisers) and this can be for FHS or for Kenelm or the runner can split the fundraising equally between both charities. Any runner wishing to register needs to do so ASAP via the web site eightpointtwo.co.uk as numbers are limited. If you have any questions please email annettethomas@fatherhudsons.org.uk or ring Dom or Sandra on 01538 703224
Congratulations to all our Y5 children who performed at the Birmingham Town Hall as part of the Hagley Pyramid Concert. All of the schools who took part, sang songs from Elton John. Our children were great ambassadors for our school, well behaved and respectful to all; they are a credit to their parents. Well done everyone!
