  • Emergency Alert Information

    Wed 19 Apr 2023

The government is launching a service called Emergency Alerts service in the UK, which will warn individuals if there is a danger to life nearby. In an emergency situation, they will receive an alert on their mobile phone or tablet with advice about staying safe. The government does not need your mobile phone number or location to send you an alert.

The government will send alerts only if severe flooding, fires and extreme weather occur. The agencies responsible for sending these alerts are the emergency services, government departments, agencies and public bodies that deal with emergencies.

The government is planning a national test on 23 April 2023.

When an individual receives an alert, the phone will make a loud siren-like sound, even if it’s set on silent, vibrate or read out the alert. This will last for around 10 seconds.

Domestic abuse charities in the UK have expressed concerns around the alerts, and advise survivors to turn them off on any secret phones. The charity Refuge has created a guide to show people how to turn off emergency alerts.

Come and Play Workshops with Dudley Performing Arts

Come and Play workshops are especially designed for children who are learning a musical instrument with their whole class in school.

DPA have already been teaching the music as part of the weekly sessions and any student taking part can come along. It doesn’t matter how confident your child is; the sessions are friendly, fun, and designed for young children who have not been playing for long.

Use this link to enrol, select the session with the instrument your child is learning, make a note of the session date and come along!

Dudley Performing Arts staff will meet you in reception when you arrive where we can complete registration details and answer any questions.

Each session lasts for an hour; your children will have fun, enjoy playing their instrument with a live band, there is loads of free parking and space for parents to wait onsite during the session. At the end of the hour we will invite you to come into the workshop room to hear what your children have been doing and it is entirely free!
