  • Aliens land at OLSK

    Mon 06 Jun 2016
Today we were greeted with what can only be described as a space catastrophe! An alien spaceship had landed in the playground overnight and we put Miss Marshall, Mrs Morris and all the children on the case to investigate! Children interviewed staff who were first on the scene, they wrote poems, drew pictures and wrote newspaper articles, to publish their findings! The whole school had a great day investigating with binoculars and magnifying glasses, hoping to find out where the craft had come from! We look forward to reading all their work at the end of the week!
  • Hagley Mass Band

    Fri 03 Jun 2016
We were privileged to have the staff and children from Hagley High School join us for a morning of prayers and singing! Many children who performed, were past pupils of OLSK! We had a wonderful morning, led by Fred; truly inspirational. Our children watched and listened to the band; they played their instruments with such skill and passion; who knows, some of our current musicians, may come back to perform to us, when they go to Hagley High, in the future!
  • OLSK walk a mile for School Fund

    Fri 27 May 2016
Today, the whole school joined in with the 'Walk a Mile' around the field, to raise funds for school. Everyone dressed up in the brightest of clothes to have a fun afternoon in the sun. Congratulations to all the children and the staff for a great afternoon. Don't forget to collect all your money over the half term and bring it into school. Thank you for your continued support.
  • Fr Hudson's Mass at the Cathedral

    Tue 24 May 2016

Our Y6 Liturgy Leaders were great ambassadors for our school today; representing our school and parish community at the Fr Hudson's Mass at St Chad's Cathedral. They carried the OLSK Banner with pride during the offertory procession and presented a cheque for £214- money raised by all the children collecting their pennies during Lent! The girls were very fortunate to have their photo with Archbishop Bernard Longley outside the Cathedral after Mass.

  • Miss Marshall wins Gold Award for Science

    Mon 09 May 2016

Well done to Miss Marshall, all the staff and the children for achieving such an amazing award. We are really proud of you!

The Primary School Quality Mark scheme enables schools to work together to share good practice and is supported by professional development led by local experts. It encourages teacher autonomy and innovation while at the same time offering a clear framework for development in science subject leadership, teaching and learning.

Jane Turner, PSQM National Director said: “Gaining a Primary Science Quality Award is a significant achievement for a school.  The profile and quality of science teaching and learning in each of these schools is very high. Children are engaging with great science both in and outside the classroom, developing positive attitudes towards science as well as secure science understanding and skills. Science subject leaders, their colleagues, head teachers, children, parents and governors should be very proud.”

  • Isabella is the next Mary Berry!

    Mon 18 Apr 2016
Isabella is trying out her cooking skills ready for junior bake off with Mary Berry, by spending her whole weekend practising baking cakes! This weekend she baked a three tier cake, themed: Under the Sea, and brought it in for staff to try!! The staff were so overwhelmed with the skills and effort that went into making the cake, they were frightened to cut it!! However, that wasn't the case at the Governors meeting tonight-they all tucked in and loved it!! Governors and staff would like to congratulate Isabella on her cooking skills and they look forward to the next 'Bake Off!' Well done Isabella, we are really proud of you! Watch out Mary Berry!!
  • World Book Day

    Sun 06 Mar 2016
Staff and children celebrated World Book Day by dressing up as their favourite book characters. Can you guess who they are?
  • World Thinking Day

    Mon 22 Feb 2016
Today we celebrated World Thinking Day with a wonderful assembly, led by Vicky, our very own leader of the Brownies. All the children who belong to either the Beavers, Brownies, Rainbows, Cubs or Scouts, wore their uniforms with pride to share with the rest of the school. All the children made their promises; to do something positive for someone else!
