WINTERY WEATHER
We hope it won’t come down in heaps……but the snow may creep in on us anytime. If school does ever close, the decision will always be made at the earliest opportunity.
You will be notified through the school text system if we are closed so please ensure we have the correct mobile numbers! Please make sure that you also have 'Plan B' in place to collect the children should we need to close at short notice, at any time during the day!
Please check your mobile phone first before thinking of calling. It is likely that if we are shut, no-one will be here to answer anyway!
However, if we are able to open, please ensure your child has a coat and wellies if they want to join me, the staff & the rest of the school on the field, making snowmen!
Although we are very thorough in our teaching of internet safety, we are very aware that not all our children put this into practice when using the internet with their friends! In this digital world, where everyone is using the internet to either communicate with friends & family, store pictures & videos etc...if it is used sensibly, it can be a wonderful tool to use! However, the minute you stop using it sensibly, that's when you can get yourself into all sorts of bother and put yourself and other at risk of serious harm!
Many of our children have received wonderful new electronic gifts for Christmas; but parents, I urge you to talk to your child about staying safe on the internet- it can be a very dangerous place, for young children to enter... please follow the link for more advice...https://www.nspcc.org.uk/preventing-abuse/keeping-children-safe/online-safety
or see the Useful Links websites, in the Parents section of our website!
Our school and parish are joining together in church to celebrate the Christmas season with a Christmas prayer service on Saturday 17th December at 3:00pm.
Some of the children from the KS2 Christmas concert have been asked to reprise their acting roles and others have been chosen to lead special readings from Father Bruce.
Readers and actors are required in church at 2:30pm so that they can put on their costumes and run through the service. Only readers are required to wear school uniform.
(Please note - This is not another performance of the KS2 production so only children who have been given specific parts for the Parish Christmas prayer service will be reading.)
We look forward to welcoming children and families in church at 3:00pm to celebrate the start of the exciting festive season.
Congratulations go to Ruby in Y6, who, out of hundreds and hundreds of entries, has won the House of Commons Christmas Card completion 2016. Ruby was presented with a framed Christmas Card and a letter from James Morris, our Halesowen MP.
Ruby was absolutely thrilled when we announced in a whole school assembly, that she had won. Well done Ruby, we are extremely proud of you.
Ruby's Christmas card will be sent to all the MPs in the House of Commons- just imagine Teresa May will wake up on Christmas morning and open a Christmas Card from our very own Ruby. Yippee!

Cleaning team win accolade for second year running!
Staff, Governors, parents and children at Our Lady & St Kenelm RC Primary School in Halesowen are celebrating once again this year as their cleaning team, led by site manager, Neil Brettle, have won the accolade 'Cleaning Team of the Year 2016!'
Dudley cleaning services manager, Mr Mark Diggory, along with some of his colleagues, presented the team with a glass momentum, in a whole school assembly! This is the second time the school has won this prestigious award and their head teacher, Christine Finnegan, stated... ' We are so proud of this achievement for our school. Neil and his cleaning team work tirelessly to ensure that our school and school grounds are immaculately clean for all the children and the staff; we cannot thank them enough for all their hard work!'
Well done to all the team!
The Happy Puzzle Company spent a day in school working with all of our children. The company offers "... a unique and fun collection of award-winning 3-D puzzles, games, challenges and puzzle books for both children and adults and covering a wide range of areas within the National Curriculum."
The guided sessions "... promoted learning through play and in developing logical reasoning and thinking skills."
The children had an amazing time working with their team to solve the puzzles.
A huge thank you to the HSA for their new fund raising initiative - Silver Smarties and to our children and their families. We hope we will be able to raise enough money for us to buy as many of the puzzles as possible for use in school.
