What an amazing time all the children are having this week away from school. It is wonderful to see all them all enjoying the fresh air, playing games, staying out till 9pm, having fun on the swings; and that's just the staff!
By the end of the week the children will have conquered their fears of the high ropes, the zip wire, rock climbing, abseiling, paddle boarding and canoeing! Wow! They will be exhausted when they get home, let alone with a suitcase full of dirty washing for their mums!
Y6 Liturgy Leaders meet our Archbishop at the Cathedral and present our cheque for Fr Hudsons, at the Good Shepherd Mass.
Siobhan, Issy, Evie & Megan were great ambassadors for our school today! They formed part of the Offertory Procession during the Mass and presented the money we raised during Lent, to Archbishop Bernard Longley!
It was a truly beautiful mass and we even managed to get a photo with the Archbishop outside.
Miracle baby saved by surgeons who fitted him with a 'hand-made heart' is our own little ‘Mini Vinnie’.
Vinnie Holliday born with half a heart and had a life-saving operation at Birmingham Children's Hospital
He was diagnosed with Hypoplastic left heart syndrome (HLHS) while still in the womb and needed open-heart surgery just 24 hours after being delivered.
Surgeons at Birmingham Children’s Hospital ‘rewired’ his heart to construct a new aorta - to allow the right side of his heart to pump blood round the body.
Vinnie is now 7 months old and his parents have agreed for him to be our own little mascot. Our first fundraiser is going to be for the Birmingham children’s Hospital to enable them to continue their amazing work and look after Vinnie, and others like him, as he grows up.
On his visit to school, the Presidents, Izzy and Sophie, from Y5, presented him with his Mini Vinnie badge, certificate, pledge card and prayer card.
Children from Hagley High School Mass Band, rock the school hall today.
Every year, Hagley High Mass Band, led by the amazing Fred, tour all of the Catholic Primary Schools, to share their gifts and talents & love of music, with the younger children; inspiring them to take up playing a musical instrument.
The staff & children were thrilled to see past pupils playing as part of the band and the whole school loved listening to the live performance!
A safeguarding alert has come from Earls High School about a child abduction in Dudley! They have sent it out on Facebook. Please be aware of the possible dangers to our children, especially those walking to & from school on their own.
Safeguarding our children is everyone's responsibility! If you have any concerns about a child's safety, please ring the police!
Children honoured Mary with flowers today, in the May Procession!
Staff , children, parents and parishioners all came to celebrate Mass, in school, in Her honour.
The parents donated flowers to display around the statue of Mary in the 'Mary Garden' in the playground.
All of the children who received the Eucharist in First Holy Communion, dressed up to pray the Rosary, led by Fr Bruce.
Today in an assembly, our KS2 children gave the 'thumbs up' to supporting the St Vincent de Paul Society, by agreeing to become 'Mini Vinnies,' and put our thoughts into actions, supporting those less fortunate than themselves.
This is a wonderful new adventure; linking with the SVP in our Parish and Mr Mike Weaver even bought the new statue into school for us to use as a guide!
Please keep the children in your prayers as they support this wonderful mission!
Thank you to all our families who support the fundraising events, led by our super mums on the HSA. Your support has helped us purchase the poly tunnel for Forest School. The children & the staff will now be able to grow their own seeds & maybe even grow our own vegetables- how exciting!!
Thank you to Mr Brettle and Mr Brown for actually erecting the tunnel in their own time! Super teamwork!
During the Summer Term, KS1 will get there much needed Adventure Playground installed by HH, KS2 will get their much desired climbing wall and the School Council will get their request granted for another outdoor prayer/quiet area; complete with sail shade!
