Year 2 consolidates foundational writing skills and builds the bridge into more structured Key Stage 2 writing.
What the Scheme Provides
- Fully resourced units based on high‑quality texts, promoting vocabulary and reading‑into‑writing.
- Development of early mastery routines, such as:
- Guided instruction
- Teacher modelling
- Scaffolding steps to independent writing
- Frequent short‑burst writing leading to one extended write per unit.
- Clear grammar and punctuation coverage appropriate for Year 2 expectations.
Skills Focus
- Sentence demarcation, expanded noun phrases, conjunctions
- Early paragraphing through sequence and organisation
- Secure use of past/present tense
- Writing for different purposes (stories, letters, reports)
Class teachers choose to a book from either Set A or Set B for each half term.
