In this half term, the curriculum will be centred in the Catholic Social Teaching principles of 'Dignity of the Human Person and Solidarity and the Common Good', particularly focussing on the question 'How can be leaders who build a fair and compassionate society?' In maths, we will begin to look at algebra as well as revisiting decimals and learning about percentages. In Literacy, we will build on our reading and writing skills through studying the book 'The Selfish Giant' by Oscar Wilde, focussing on themes of fairness and inclusion.
Children will study the Sacraments of Baptism and Confirmation as part of our Sacramental preparation and will also look at the importance Christmas around the celebration of the Epiphany. Through history, children will study WW2 and the effects that it had on Britain. We will use WW2 as a platform to learn about what makes a fair and compassionate society and how we can learn from the past to make Britain a better place.
Across the wider curriculum, children will study cooking in DT, evolution and inheritance in science and blogging in computing.
