Summer 2

Is influence long lasting?

In Summer 2, by answering our CST question of "Is influence long lasting?" children will investigate Roman engineering achievements, such as roads, aqueducts, and public baths, to understand how these innovations helped the Romans meet the needs of their society. They will link this to Rights and Responsibilities, focusing on the Roman responsibility to ensure the welfare of its citizens through infrastructure. This will also lead to a discussion about our responsibility today to care for the planet and its resources. Children will explore how Roman advancements in infrastructure can inspire sustainable solutions to modern challenges like water scarcity and climate change.

In this term, children will investigate the lasting influence of Roman civilization while reflecting on the Catholic Social Teaching of Rights and Responsibilities. This principle encourages them to understand that every person has fundamental rights and that we all share the responsibility to promote these rights in our communities and the wider world. Through their studies of the Romans, children will gain a deeper understanding of how individual actions and values can have a lasting impact on society, and how we can uphold the rights of others in our world today, further building upon prior knowledge.
