Our Summer 1 Learning Journey

Social interaction is key in the Early Years whereby the children are learning how to turn take, share toys and respect their peers. There are some lovely friendships forming within the group which is so nice to see.

Physical Development - Fine motor Skills. Look at the many ways in which we are developing our fine motor skills. Our concentration skills are also developing as we preserve and stay on task to complete our activities during continuous provision.

Physical Development - using the bikes, scooters it is great to see how their confidence has grown. Challenging themselves on the stepping blocks whereby some children can balance whilst holding a bean bag or ball then aim it for the basketball net. Some children created an aeroplane and pretended to be going on holiday.

The children have learnt about “ The feeding of the 5,000” from the Holy Bible. They enjoyed acting out with an adult then independently telling the story during continuous provision. They also had an opportunity to act it out in the water play. We have also learnt the rhyme “ Row, Row, Row your Boat” and the actions with a partner.

Linked to our topic - learning about vehicles the children decided to create a car wash role play. We have also been learning about road safety and the children enjoyed taking it in turns to be the lollipop person.

The children were so excited to come to school in their pyjamas for PYJAMARAMA DAY to raise money to buy books for children who may not have any. The children reflected on how lucky they are to have so many books at school, home and access to local libraries. We could not imagine our lives without BOOKS 📕. As a treat we went to Forest 🌳 School to share books and stories with each other. We even played in Forest School which the children thought was great - because they were wearing their night clothes.

Mrs Pugh worked with our younger children to introduce them to all our precious items on our Altar. Beginning to use the RE vocabulary such as Bible, Mother Mary, Cross, Crucifix, Rosary Beads, Altar, Candle, Holy water. She also shared the prayer bag with them so they know what to do when they are chosen to take it home.

Our older children were able to recall our learning leading up to Easter - when we were on our Lenten Journey. This term we are learning about “ Easter - Alleluia “ whereby the children will learn that Jesus came back to life again and that this was a happy time. I was amazed how much they had ALL remembered from “ Holy Week” true theologians.

Look at all our AMAZING SUPERHEROES in pre School - thank you for using your God given talents every day.

Our topic this term is “ Are we there yet?” Exploring transport and journeys. The children are enjoying our two role plays in pre school at the moment. Firstly they book their holiday in our “ Travel Agents “ where they are practicing their speaking and listening skills, talking to each other answering the telephone. They are writing booking forms and looking through holiday brochures. Then they pack their suitcase and go in the jeep in our jungle role play or they move the chairs and create an aeroplane, train or bus.

The children loved being on the HUGE field practicing their gross motor skills with our PE coach. They are beginning to learn the skills linked to racing games- and the importance of teamwork.

Personal, social and emotional development is key in early years. The new children have settled beautifully and foaming friendships with our older ones.
