Art for next Friday (21.11.25)

Please can you send your child in with a pebble/smooth rock for next Friday as we will be painting and decorating on them. This needs to be big enough for your child to complete their art on.

Forest School- Tuesday 18th November

We are going to Forest School on Tuesday 18th November. Please send your child in PE kit on this day. Please also send your child with any outerwear and wellies.

Community Language Day (14.11.25)

Next week we will be having our annual Community Language Day. Year One will be learning all about Spain. Please come dressed in the colours of the Spanish flag as part of non-uniform for the day. If any parents/carers would like to come in on this day and share their culture/language with us please email info@our-lady.dudley.sch.uk FAO of Miss Carey. This does not have to be Spanish it can be any language!

Science Lesson on Friday (7.11.25)

Please can you send your child in with one object on Friday for our science lesson as we are exploring Everyday Materials. For the lesson we require a range of objects made by the following materials. Please see examples below.

  • Wood: spoon, pencil, peg, Christmas decoration, paintbrush, block or a percussion instrument.
  • Plastic: building brick, cup, plate, peg, toothbrush, button, plant pot, toy or counting cubes.
  • Glass: jam jar, reading glasses, mirror, jug, vase or ornament.
  • Metal: coin, necklace, can, fork, watering can or cymbal.
  • Fabric: scarf, cap, T-shirt, PE bag, dishcloth or teddy.
  • Rock: brick, chalk, stone, tile or ceramic plate.
  • Water: a see-through container of water.

 

Please note this object will be kept in our material box for the half term as part of our science learning.

Autumn 2- Important Dates

I hope you are all having a lovely half term break. Please see below information about the term ahead and important dates. This is a very exciting and busy half term with the lead up to preparing for the Birth of Jesus and our KS1 Nativity!

 

PE this half term will be on Wednesday's and Thursday's. Please send your child to school in PE kit on those days. 

 

The children will receive a short research task for their Geography topic on Thursday's. Please ensure this is returned every Thursday as this is really important for their prior learning,

 

The children will receive spelling homework on a Friday to help with their phonics. Please ensure this is returned with your child's name on, on a Friday.

 

Important dates for the term ahead:

Friday 7th November- Wear bright colours for CAFOD and please donate an item for the Black Country Food Bank.

Tuesday 18th November- Forest School session (pm). Please send your child in PE kit and with any outer wear/wellies.

Thursday 27th November- Whole School Film Night

Wednesday 3rd December- Stay & Pray begins (parents/carers are invited to join us for Stay & Pray every Wednesday during Advent at 9am.

Thursday 4th December- Y1 Led Mass

Friday 5th December- Advent Retreat Day (wear purple)

Tuesday 9th December- KS1 Christmas Dinner (wear Christmas Jumpers)

Thursday 11th December- KS1 Nativity (details to follow)

Friday 12th December- KS1 Theatre Trip

Wednesday 17th December- KS1 Breakfast with Santa

Friday 19th December- Naughty Elf Day and break up at 2.15pm

Nativity Parts

Dear Parents/Carers

 

Scripts for the KS1 Nativity has been given out and sent home today, can your child please begin to practise their lines as we will start practises soon after the half term holiday :)

 

If your child hasn't received a script today- please don't worry. Every child has a role whether it be a speaking part, acting or dancing and ALL are important. Specific acting and dancing roles will be assigned after half term.

Open afternoon ahead of Parents Evening

Dear parents/ carers

 

You are invited to the Y1 open afternoon on Tuesday 21st October at 2:40 where you can come and look at your child's brilliant work so far in Year 1.

 

We will ask you to complete a celebration sheet, where you can write a message about your child's learning so far.

 

We hope you can make it and look forward to seeing you!

As part of our science learning Year One are going to Forest School on Monday (22.09.25). Please send your child in PE kit on this day. Please also send wellies/old shoes and any outerwear/coats.

Welcome to Class Meeting

RE Lessons week commencing 15.09.25
Next week in RE we are exploring special celebrations within the Church.

 

On Monday 15th September, please could you send in a photo of your child at a celebration in Church with their family. This could be their Baptism, a Holy Communion, Wedding or Confirmation. Please can this be a paper copy as it will be stuck in their book to help your child complete their writing.

 

On Tuesday 16th September 2025 we will be exploring the sacrament of Baptism. Please send your child in with Baptism photos or special items for us to explore as a class. These will all be returned on the day.

Inviting Grandparents to Y1 History Learning!

Change to the timetable
I hope you are enjoying your last few days of the holidays! There has been a slight change to our timetable and PE will now be on Wednesday's and Thursday's. For this week we will have PE just on Wednesday. PE will commence on Thursday's from next week (11.09.25). Please send your child in school uniform this Thursday.

I hope you have had a wonderful summer holiday with your families! We are really looking forward to welcoming you back to school. Please come to school in PE kit on Wednesday 3rd September. Please also return your Transition packs.
