Communication with Parents and Carers

Parental Engagement and Communication

As a school, we recognise the importance of maintaining a strong, transparent, and trusting relationship with parents. Effective communication between home and school is essential to ensuring that every child receives the best possible support and that parents feel confident in the school’s leadership and decision-making processes.

Actions to Strengthen Communication and Parental Engagement

1. Parent Voice and Consultation
   - Establish regular Parent Voice Forums/Questionnaires, via Forms, led by staff, where parents can raise questions, share concerns, and contribute ideas on school improvement priorities.
   - Introduce  online Parent Feedback Evaluations to collect views on key areas such as teaching quality, wellbeing, communication, and school events.  See Parental Feedback on the website.
   - Develop a ‘You Said, We Did’ section on the school website to demonstrate how parental feedback leads to real changes and improvements.

2. Improving Responsiveness and Transparency
   - Implement clear lines of communication for parental enquiries and concerns. Policies are on the website and parent have direct contact with SLT via info@, 24 hours a day, including weekends and holidays.
   - Ensure that all concerns are logged and tracked by senior leaders and staff,  to monitor patterns and follow-up actions.
   - Provide training for staff, when needed, on effective communication and conflict resolution to ensure that all interactions with parents are positive, respectful, and solution-focused.

3. Enhancing Accessibility of Communication
   - Review and expand communication channels (email, text, app notifications, newsletters, and translated materials) to ensure information is accessible to all families, including those for whom English is an additional language. The information on the Website can be translated into a different family language.
   - Offer flexible opportunities for parents to meet with staff, including virtual meetings and extended office hours for working parents. We offer both face to face and online.
   - Ensure parents are aware of who to contact for specific queries and how their concerns will be addressed.

4. Building Trust and Partnership
   - Encourage teachers, leaders and staff, to maintain proactive communication with families, sharing positive updates as well as addressing issues.
   - Host Parent Partnership Workshops each term focusing on curriculum understanding, wellbeing, and supporting learning at home.
   - Strengthen links with the Helping Hands parent support group, and ensure parent representatives contribute to decision-making on key school priorities.

Monitoring and Evaluation

To ensure these improvements are effective and sustained:
- Senior leaders will report termly to governors on parental feedback and engagement data.
- Parental satisfaction will be measured annually through surveys and focus groups.
- Governors will review evidence of impact and ensure that parent voice continues to inform strategic planning.

Our Commitment

We are committed to ensuring every parent feels listened to, respected, and valued as a vital partner in their child’s education. By building consistent and transparent channels of communication, we aim to strengthen mutual trust, improve understanding, and create a stronger sense of shared responsibility for our children’s success and wellbeing.
