Cakes in Golden Time to celebrate our class saint feast day which is tomorrow! Happy feast day Saint Francis of Assisi 🙏🏻

Exploring printing with paint 🎨

Phonics activities!

We love using the rekenreks!

In PE we have been exploring running at different speeds and what happens to our bodies when we run faster! 🏃‍♂️

Today our Grandparents joined us to tell us all about childhood in the past as part of our history topic. We asked some brilliant questions and learned so much! Thank you so much to all of our grandparents that came in!

In gymnastics today we began to sequence some jumps and rolls!

Pupil Prepared Prayer based on the Holy Rosary 🩵

Today we celebrated our class saint feast day which is on the 4th October. We thought about the wonderful things St Francis of Assisi did and how we can follow in his footsteps 🌎

We practised logging on to the computers today! We discussed how important it is to keep your username and password private.

In RE we explored the story of ‘Jesus presented in the temple’. We thought carefully about how Simeon and Anna felt when they saw Jesus.

Today we used our knowledge of mixing primary colours to make secondary colours to paint in the style of Jasper Johns 🎨

Today in PE we applied our running skills to a game. We also started thinking about how we can attack and defend!

In history today we explored how we celebrate our birthdays. We created a human timeline of our birthdays, made birthday cards and role played what we might do on a birthday! 🎈

We have been learning the greater then, less than and equal to sign in Maths! We have also been exploring how 5 is in other numbers.

Pupil prepared prayer and RE. We were looking at signs and actions within the Mass!

We are really enjoying gymnastics in PE. Today we revisited one, two, three and four point balances and then went on to practice different jumps!

Today Father Stefan came into Year One to talk to us about the signs and symbols of the Mass. We even got to try the unblessed bread! Thank you Father Stefan for giving up your time! ⛪️

The children learned all about primary and secondary colours in art. We mixed primary colours, made block colour collages and did some object sorting 🎨

Today in History all of the children brought a special object or photograph for our memory box. We enjoyed talking about our special memories!

Phonics activities!

Active maths focussing on one more and one less! 🧮

Today in RE we explored our own celebrations we have experienced in Church!

Today in art we explored the work of Clarice Cliff plates. We focussed on the bold colours, repeating patterns and flowers she used. We had a go at making our own plates in different ways 🎨

We have enjoyed our maths activities in Maths this week! We have been learning to count objects and represent objects using tens frames!

Today in history we looked at our own timelines so far. We loved looking back at past photos and memories!

Today in Pupil Prepared Prayer we explored our CST question of ‘What can I do to help others feel like they belong?’ We then began our Families and Celebrations unit and explored times when we have celebrated with our families and in Church ⛪️

In gymnastics we looked at balances today!

We have celebrated Mary’s Birthday in School. We thought about what we need for a birthday party and wrote lovely messages to Mary! 🩵

Our British Value for this half term is Democracy. Today we did lots of voting activities in class. We learned that all our views matter! 🇬🇧

More fun in maths sorting objects and looking at repeating patterns!

Today in RE we learned all about our class saint: St Francis of Assisi. He was a wonderful man and he has truly inspired us all!

We had so much fun in active maths today!

Year One 2025-2026 ❤️
