Autumn

This week in PE, we moved around different stations carrying out different tasks:

  • walking along a bench, doing a counter balance with a partner then jumping off.
  • doing different jumps off a platform on to a mat.
  • walking up a bench, balance on platform and do different jumps off.

Some children even managed to do a forward roll off the platform.

We walked to our church to explore the different areas where we pray. We also had the chance to practice our readings for our mass of commitment on Sunday.

We used our detective skills to put the Rite of Baptism in the correct order

In Music this week, we started to learn the song ‘Daydream Believer’ with the help of some actions, before moving on to playing the chord c major on our ukuleles.

In Literacy, we did some hot seating before taking on the roles of the grandfather and the boy from the book the ‘Seal Surfer’.

We went to the Phiz Lab & used the skeletons to learnt some of the scientific names of the bones. We measured each other to see how long the different bones were. Did you know that the femur is the longest bone in the body?

In Art we have been using a variety of pencils to practice shading. Today we worked in our table groups to use our observational skills to complete a drawing of an object. We took it in turns to add parts on to the drawing, passing it on when our time was up.

Mr Shepherd has started to teach us a new song for our Stone Age unit,

We learnt about our joints in Science and made a moveable skeleton to see where they are!

In PE the children travelled across the bench using 2,3 and 4 points, ensuring that they landed safely when jumping off the bench.

Practical Maths on our whiteboards solving calculations involving adding and subtracting hundreds.

In our forest school session with Mrs Morris, we learnt about global warming and climate change with some of the children demonstrating what is happening. We were lucky enough to have some time to explore our fabulous area.

Our wonderful RE, CST displays & September prayer area

We enjoyed our first music lesson with Mr Shepherd, The Musical Toad. We are learning the ukulele!

We had great fun with the start of our new Science topic. We are learning about skeletons. We drew people with no skeleton & sorted pictures into vertebrates & invertebrates. Did you know that some animals have no hard skeleton?! 😲

We love learning to use the KS2 bibles. We were reading from the Gospel of Mark, all about the call of the disciples. 🙏🏾

What a super effort you have all made with your summer holiday project which was to find out about the Stone, Iron and Bronze Ages. Thank you for all of your hard work. 😍

We learnt about what democracy is by thinking about all of the different choices we make and how they can be fair. Then we decided on our class reading book by filling out a ballot paper to cast our votes. When reflecting on how the task made us feel, words mentioned were: included, excited, welcomed and proud.

In Literacy, we showed what super writers we are by writing about something we know a lot about e.g football teams, cricket, dinosaurs and ourselves. 😄

In our first PE lesson we investigated our balance points & counterbalances
