Physical Development- Gross Motor Skills Daily the children enjoy the bikes, scooters and Bubble cars. They are good at navigating and negotiating around obstacles in the playground showing awareness of “ Space”
Understanding the World- Computer Skills exploring how things work and cause and effect.
Communication and Language Development- the children were excited to meet “Lola the Leopard “ who helps us to promote our speaking and listening skills. She reminds us to look at the person who is speaking, to be quiet, and try to remember what has been said. We use Lola during circle time, she is a great asset to our team.
Our PE focus is ball skills - the children had the opportunity to explore many ways of making the ball travel we discussed the word control. They rolled it, pushed it whilst trying to maintain control. The children are beginning to understand how we find a space and why it is important to be in a space. We discuss what happens to our body as we exercise and the children found their hearts and majority recognised the it was “ beating faster” They worked as individuals and as a team also. The session developed their hand eye coordination as they manipulated the small balls.
Pupil Prepared Prayer - whereby the children learnt about “Noah’s Ark” a reading from the Bible.
To promote our speaking and listening skills we have the opportunity to bring something special in from home to share with our peers. This also encourages us to ask questions and boosts our confidence.
Linked to our topic on “Celebrations “ the children have loved the story about Rama and Sita remembering the new vocabulary and the characters from the story . The children are fascinated with cleaning in the role play preparing their house for the Diwali making pretend food with the play dough and creating Rangoli patterns in the coloured rice. They have also explored the clay making diva lamps and investigating torches linked to the “ Festival of Light”
Our community French Day shared with Reception - we listened to “ Going on the Bear Hunt” read to us in French 🇫🇷
Our RE learning this week was learning about the Bible Story “ Noah’s Ark”
Our focus this term for our Catholic Social Teaching is “ Stewardship “ the children and families were so generous offering food and toiletries to families in our local area Truly thoughtful and kind and considering others..THANK YOU
Reading and sharing books are key in our setting - our children love stories. Twice a week we have a shared reading session enjoying fiction and non fiction books. We enjoy books inside pre school and outside it’s an opportunity to explore new vocabulary, go on a journey of expression and creativity. Sharing books, stories and rhymes is priceless and fundamental to your child’s learning “ building blocks” for their future.
