Autumn 2

What has God given us in creation, and how should we treat it?- Stewardship of God's Creation

Gospel Virtues: Learned & Wise
British Values: Democracy

This half term our learning is rooted in the Catholic Social Teaching theme of Stewardship of God’s Creation, guided by the question: “What has God given us in creation, and how should we treat it?” Throughout the term, we will reflect on the beauty of the world around us and think about how we can care for God’s creation in our school, local area, and beyond. Through stories, discussions, and hands-on experiences, we will explore ways to show gratitude and responsibility for the world God has made.

As geographers, the children will explore the unit of “What is it like here?” They will learn about their local area and discover the human and physical features that make it special. Using maps and simple fieldwork, children will identify landmarks, green spaces, and natural features, thinking about how people use and care for these places. They will develop their geographical vocabulary, learn to describe what they see, and begin to understand their place in the wider world.

By the end of the unit, the children will create their own simple maps and drawings to show what makes their local area unique and beautiful. They will reflect on how they can help look after God’s creation by keeping their surroundings clean, respecting nature, and appreciating the world around them. This learning journey will help them see how caring for the Earth is part of living out God’s love every day.
