  • Children’s Mental Health Week

    Sun 31 Jan 2021

For Children's Mental Health Week 2021 we will be encouraging children (and adults) to explore the different ways we can express ourselves, and the creative ways that we can share our feelings, our thoughts and our ideas. This year’s theme is ‘Express Yourself.’

Expressing yourself is about finding ways to share feelings, thoughts, or ideas, through creativity. This could be through art, music, writing and poetry, dance and drama, photography and film, and doing activities that make you feel good.

  • Operation Christmas Child Update

    Wed 27 Jan 2021

This morning, Susan from Operation Christmas Child rang school to say a HUGE thank-you to all of our families who filled in a box for Operation Christmas Child in December.

She was amazed that of the 250,000 boxes that left the UK, 100 came from families at OLSK, and that didn't include the boxes that were filled online.

We are so proud of our contribution as a school, to this worthy cause and we are sure that wherever our boxes end up, the children who receive them will be overwhelmed to know that another family, thousands of miles away, is thinking of them and sending them love and kindness.

    Well done everyone!

  • Travel to Tokyo!

    Mon 25 Jan 2021

We will be taking part in Team GB and ParalympicsGB's virtual Travel to Tokyo challenge!

We have turned each class into a Travel to Tokyo team and they will be making a 47,349 kilometre virtual journey around the world to reach Tokyo in time for the 2021 Olympic and Paralympic Games. All you need to do is get active as a family and record every bit of activity on the easy-to use Log Activity page

You can get started by trying some fun Travel to Tokyo activity ideas. All the physical activity your family does will count towards our team journey. You don’t need lots of equipment or space – playing in the park or having a dance off to your favourite song – if it gets your heart pumping, it all counts!

There will also be great prizes to win, like fitness trackers and Games hampers for the whole family.

You can keep track of our team's progress and check out the weekly prize on our School Dashboard. Select their team to see their journey across the world!

Let's see which class can make it to Tokyo first- there will be prizes!

  • Update from Mrs F

    Tue 19 Jan 2021

It is very sad for us to announce that we have had to isolate the Y5/6 Bubble for the next ten days, including the four teaching staff. We have done so well as a school since opening fully in September last year, in trying to keep everyone safe but I think you will agree, it is the world we are living in at the moment, that these decisions have to be made.

All learning will now be on line for these children and our staff will deliver the learning on line, or through the Class Page on the Website.

It is wonderful to see all the children totally engaged in this new way of learning & as adults, I think we should be very proud of them, for their adaptability and resilience. Staff, as always, are going above and beyond to ensure that all children, either in school or at home, are still receiving their entitlement to the full curriculum.

Thank you for all your continued support; staff have loved receiving all the positive emails, and as a leader in our lovely school, I am proud that we have kept Christ at the Centre of all the decision making, whilst trying our very best to keep everyone safe.

Please keep all the children, staff, parents and our wider community in your prayers over these next few weeks and beyond, as we all do our bit, to keep everyone safe.

    Love from Mrs F

  • How to self-isolate

    Mon 18 Jan 2021

If your child has been told to self-isolate you must ensure that you follow the guidance.

    How to self-isolate

Your child must not leave your home if they're self-isolating.

    • Do not go to school or public places.

    • Do not take your child to drop off or pick up siblings from school.

    • Do not go on public transport or use taxis

    • Do not take them out to the shops for any reason, even to get food and medicine – order it online or by phone, or ask someone to bring it to your home

    • Do not have visitors in your home, including friends and family – except for people providing essential care

    • Do not take them out to exercise – exercise at home or in your garden, if you have one

Please ensure that you are following all of these guidelines to keep your child and others, safe!

    Thank-you!
