News and Updates

Birmingham Library Visit 5.07.23

We are looking forward to taking the children to Birmingham Library on the 5th July 2023. We will be leaving school around 10am and will be back in time for the end of the school day. Please ensure your child is in school uniform and brings a packed lunch with them. The children will have to carry their lunches and drinks so I would recommend sending your child with a backpack for ease of carrying their belongings. Please ensure your child has a hat with them in case it is sunny and a waterproof coat in case it rains.

The year two team are looking forward to taking you to explore lots of exciting books 📚

Many Thanks

Dudley Zoo Trip- 15th June 2023

How exciting our trip to Dudley Zoo is next week! Here are some details for the trip.

Children are to arrive at school for normal time in full school uniform (at the moment it is meant to be quite warm so I would suggest summer uniform). The weather is meant to be hot at the moment so please make sure you send your child with a hat and sun cream. We would appreciate it if you could apply sun cream to your child before they arrive at school as once they are at school children will have to apply it themselves. Although the weather is meant to be good please be prepared for all eventualities and send your child in with a raincoat as well (fingers crossed we won’t need these 🤞. Please ensure your child is on time for school on this day. Your child will need a packed lunch and plenty of drinks. Please pack a break time snack as well. Your child will have to carry their lunch around for the day so a backpack would be suggested for ease of carrying. Your child may bring some money for the gift shop that we may go to at the end if we have time. This must be no more than £5 and your child is responsible for their own money. I would suggest putting the money in a small purse/wallet or envelope.

The year two team are really looking forward to having a wonderful day out with you all! 🐅🦒🦭🌊

Many Thanks

Miss Carey :)

Dance Showcase Costume

We are having our school dance showcase on Tuesday 23rd May 2023! We are kindly asking that parents and carers supply their child with a costume. Our dance is all about Under the Sea so your costume can be anything linked to Under the Sea. Please find some ideas and images below:

  • You may want to dress in blue for the ocean
  • You may want to create an Under the Sea Creature Costume e.g. jellyfish, seahorse, clown fish
  • You may want to dress as a diver
  • You could wear swimming trunks or swimming costumes (please make sure your child is covered appropriately e.g. shorts on top of swimming costume, t-shirt with swimming trunks).
  • We ask that there are no mermaid costumes please as this does not fit with our dance.

It is important to make sure that your child can move freely in their costume and that it is secure. Please ensure they are wearing appropriate footwear e.g. black pumps.

Please can you send your child's costume in a labelled bag on Monday 15th May 2023. Feel free to be as creative or as simple as you like! Remember we will have our Under the Sea Project Day in July and you can reuse your costume for this day!

Thank you for your support!

Comprehension Homework due in 2.05.23

This week your child has been sent home with comprehension homework instead of maths homework. This is a 60 second read comprehension homework and then the children can answer the questions to the right of the text. Please make sure your child has put their name on their homework.

Thank you so much for all being on board with our reading system! We really appreciate your continued support.

Many Thanks,

Miss Carey :)

Reading

Please encourage your child to read at home everyday. It is so important for children to find a passion and enjoyment around reading. Children do not have to read their books from school all the time. They may want to read other books at home, magazines, news articles etc. Please ensure you are hearing your child read everyday and signing their reading record. The Year 2 team will be checking their reading records and there will be rewards for children who have their diary signed everyday.

If you have any unwanted books or magazines or anything else that you think may be of interest to year 2 we would love to have them in our reading corner for the children to enjoy.

Thank you so much for your continued support it really is appreciated!

Many Thanks,

Miss Carey :)
