Summer

We ended Refugee Week with a visit to our whole school art exhibition. It was so visually stunning with beautiful background music too!

We have been working so hard during Refugee Week this week. We have written prayers, focusing on how we can be disciples. We have looked at the journey across Europe of the puppet Amal in EBL. We have thought about what we might pack if we had to leave home suddenly. We listened to refugee children’s stories and came up with ways that we would welcome them. And of course we have worked on our beautiful art for the art exhibition tomorrow!

What a fabulous day we had at Little Owls Farm Park today! We loved learning about the animals and petting and feeding them! The children were so well behaved- a real credit to their families and our school.

DT week- we have been busy learning all about different types of puppets, making our own stick puppets and finger puppets, creating puppet shows and designing and making our farm sock puppets.

We took part in ‘The Big Break’ today for the NSPCC charity. We had great fun riding on bikes and scooters, as well as playing football!

We had a fun-filled day today as we celebrated the Queen’s Platinum Jubilee! We started the day with our ‘dance through the decades’ performance in the playground for our whole school community.

In Maths lessons we have been learning about halves and quarters. We have been using counters to find a quarter of a number.

May is the Month of Mary

Catholic Social Teaching on Dignity of Workers. We thought about how every worker in our school is important and that everyone’s role is valuable. We made thank you cards to show our gratitude.

Celebrating Eastertide by learning about the Paschal Candle.

We’ve been busy in our Multiplication and Division Maths topic, using concrete objects to explore arrays, repeated addition and sharing in equal groups.

We enjoyed spending time with our reading buddies in Year 5 on Pyjamarama Day.

We have been busy planting flowers in preparation for the Queen’s Platinum Jubilee celebration next month. We chose red, white and blue as our colour palette. Keep an eye on our planter to see them mature and develop.

We had a special PE session today, provided by Worcestershire Cricket Club. We practised lots of skills needed for cricket and had lots of fun too.

Thank you to Mrs Fuggle who came into Year 1 to speak to the children about her job in the jewellery making business. We learned about how precious metals have special markings called ‘hallmarks,’ which help identify its age and purity.

This week is vocations week in school and we are thinking about what God is calling each of us to do? We have been exploring our special gifts and thinking about how we might use them to do good in the world.

We had a visit from a ‘firefighter’ who talked about the different kinds of emergencies that the fire service attend. He also talked to the children about what to do if they see a fire and how to stay safe.
