In this half term, the children will be introduced to the Y6 curriculum, building on prior knowledge and developing this knowledge further. The curriculum will be centred in the Catholic Social Teaching principle of 'Family and Community', particularly focussing on the question 'How can I be a leader in my community through love and service?' In maths and literacy, they will revise previous learning and learn new skills and methods in preparation for the Y6 curriculum.
Children will study lives of the Saints and Mary and some key figures from the Old Testament to help them to understand further the Church community that they belong to and how these individuals served as leaders in the Church. Through history, children will study census data to see how society has changed in Britain. They will study individuals who have made significant contributions to society, leading with love and service. In science, children will study the workings of the circulatory system and how we can take care of our bodies and the bodies of those in our community.
Across the wider curriculum of DT and computing, children will learn key skills, with their end piece being linked back to our overarching theme.
