At Our Lady & St Kenelm’s, our Junior Police Officers are pupils who help promote safety, responsibility, and positive behaviour across the school.
Junior Police Officers:
Support their peers by encouraging respect and adherence to school rules
Help promote online safety, road safety, and community awareness
Lead initiatives to create a safe and supportive environment for everyone
Serve as role models, demonstrating responsibility, leadership, and integrity
Through this programme, pupils develop confidence, leadership, and communication skills while contributing to a safe, caring, and well-organised school community.
Some of our pupils, took part in the Junior PCSO Scheme, which is run by West Midlands Police.
Youngsters were taught about the roles of PCSOs within the community. Now having completed their training, ten students will now help PSCOs monitor anti-social behaviour, litter and parking in the local area. Under the supervision of officers, the youngsters will even be able to issue parking tickets.
Only a select amount of schools are able to take part in the programme run by the region's police force.
Mrs Finnegan said: "We were honoured to be offered the opportunity to take part in the Junior PCSO scheme. We are big believers in pupil leadership, and pride our selves on being a 'child-led' school. This program instils the values we hold about community."
Please keep an eye out for them....they have a proper police uniform too.
Our JSPCOs were out in force today; deterring parents from parking outside the school gates, putting all the children’s safety at risk! Thank you to West Midlands Police ๐ฎโ๏ธ for training them in their roles! They are true ambassadors for our school and they carried out their duties with great pride. ๐๐ Parents were delighted to see them out on duty & congratulated them for their efforts to keep everyone safe! Parents beware…. They will be forced to report you if you park illegally on the double yellow lines outside school.
