Summer 1

What are your God given talents?

CST: Dignity of work and rights of the worker.

Gospel Virtues: Grateful and Generous.

British Values: Tolerance of those of different faiths and beliefs.

This half term, the children will be exploring a rich and exciting range of learning experiences designed to help them develop confidence, curiosity and a strong sense of themselves and the world around them. Our learning will be inspired by engaging stories, which will help children make meaningful connections across all areas of the curriculum.

Across the term, children will be encouraged to celebrate what makes them unique and to recognise the talents and gifts they have. They will learn about friendship, kindness and community, and how we can all use our strengths to help others.

Throughout their learning, the children will take on different roles as they explore the world around them. They will become scientists, investigating plants, animals and the natural world. They will act as geographers, exploring maps and beginning to understand the world beyond their immediate environment. As historians, they will learn about the past, comparing life long ago with life today. As artists and designers, they will express their ideas creatively through drawing, painting, collage, music, drama and movement inspired by stories and themes such as courage and celebration.

Children will also develop early reading, writing and mathematical skills through practical, hands-on and purposeful activities that make learning meaningful and fun. In RE, they will explore key aspects of the Easter story, learning about celebration, prayer and the life of Jesus and his friends.

We will also support children’s personal development, helping them to build confidence, resilience and positive relationships with others. A strong focus will be placed on wellbeing, safety and understanding how to make good choices both in school and online.

We look forward to a wonderful term of learning, discovery and growth as the children continue to flourish in all areas of the curriculum.
