Spring - What has changed since our Grandparents were young?

In this history driver, we will be exploring the changes to our school grounds and local area, within and beyond our living memory. We will be applying our geographical skills to read and compare maps of Halesowen to identify what has changed in our local area since our grandparents were young.

By exploring the origins of the mobile phone, computer, television and much more, we will gain a greater understanding of how life would have been different for our grandparents when they were younger. We will be using simple sources to find out information about the past, starting by interviewing our own Grandparents. As historians we will also have the chance to look at, analyse and explore artefacts from many years ago and compare these to more modern items.

Through revisiting and progressing our skills and learning, these golden nuggets of knowledge will be embedded in our long term memories!

What a brilliant start to our topic! We learnt so much this afternoon when our Grandparents came into school to share their stories about what life was like for them when they were young. It was very different to life today! Thank you to all the wonderful Grandparents that joined us!
