Our Summer Learning Journey

Important information about this term...

  • PE will be on Mondays and Wednesdays and children will need to come to school in their PE kit.
  • Children need to be reading EVERY DAY at home to help them catch up on time missed in school.
  • Please ensure all children’s personal items have their names inside. 
  • Spelling homework will be sent out on a Friday and books will need to be returned by the following THURSDAY.
  • A new research question will be sent home every two weeks.

This term, we will be learning about animals, plants and different places in the world in our new topic:

'Where does our food come from?'

We had fun tasting lots of different fruits from all over the world! Last week we used maps and atlases to find out where they came from, and this week we got to taste them! πŸ‰πŸ₯₯🍍πŸ₯­πŸ₯‘

We have been using papier-mÒché to cover balloons, which we will soon be turning into beehives! This week we are learning about where honey comes from and the job of a honey bee 🐝🍯

In Year 1, our theme for Pyjamara day was the book β€˜Stick Man’ by Julia Donaldson. We read the story and watched the video, and later on we make our very own Stick Man cakes! They tasted delicious too πŸ˜‹

Today we were using the percussion instruments to practise playing different rhythms!

We had great fun outdoors today for Number Day! We played games and used our number skills to solve problems and complete challenges 2️⃣4️⃣6️⃣8οΈβƒ£πŸ”Ÿ

We created some beautiful artwork to remember Mary during the month of May πŸ’™πŸ’

Using the maps and globes to find out where our fruit and vegetables come from in EBL πŸ…πŸŒ½πŸ₯₯πŸ₯πŸ‡

In athletics this week, we have been practising jumping for distance πŸƒβ€β™‚οΈ

We’ve been learning about Mary Magdalene and the other women who found Jesus’ tomb empty. We set up an interview with β€˜Mary Magdalene’ and asked some fantastic questions...

For OLSK Day of prayer, we were focusing on the Gospel values of being compassionate and loving πŸ’•

This week is vocations week! We started off by talking about the jobs that our parents do, and thinking about what we would like to do when we grow up.
