Wanted Old Telephones!

If you have any old unwanted telephones at home, please send them in to support our learning through play. Thank you.

Reading Books!

As the children are becoming more confident at story telling, they will be coming home with Pink banded books. These books will have simple sentences in, don't be alarmed that the children cannot read them! Share the story with your child, encourage them to point to the words as you read them and repeat each sentence to you. The children will naturally start to recognise some common words in the books or recognise a pattern in the story. Enjoy this quality time together!

Friday 11th October is OLSK's Community Languages Day!

During this day we will be celebrating all the different languages spoken in our community. Reception will be focusing on learning French - Please come into school wearing red, white & blue to symbolise the French Flag. Thank you.

We are scarecrows in the celebration, so please send your child to school on this day wearing, black, brown or dark green clothing (plain) and don't forget their flippy floppy hats! Thank you.

Trikes & Scooters Wanted!!

If you have any unwanted trikes or scooters at home and would like to donate them to OLSK, please see one of the EYFS team. We often use our scooters to help improve our gross motor skills, which need to be established before we can hold a pencil effectively.

Reading Books!! - 23.09.19

Throughout this week, we will be giving out reading books to every child in Reception. The reading books will just have pictures in to start with, to get the children used to the characters and the process of bringing their book in everyday. The Reading books will be coming home in a folder, along with a Reading Record - these MUST be in school everyday. Each morning your child will take their folder out of their bag and place it into a basket, we will then read and sign any comments from parents and change books when necessary. Please ensure you are reading/sharing you child's book with them at home at least 3 times a week. Thank you! Miss Mallin

Birthdays!

When it is your child's birthday, they are allowed to come into school wearing their own clothes to celebrate the occasion. If their birthday falls on a weekend, they can choose to come into school in their own clothes on either the Monday or Friday.

Golden Book Assembly!
