Special Person Afternoon!

On Thursday 19th March at 2.30pm, each child may choose one special person they would like to invite to our special person afternoon. The afternoon is for that special person to sit back and relax, whilst you are entertained and waited on by your children, to show how much they love you. The children will be performing songs, sharing their learning journey and there will be a number of activities for you to complete with your child. Refreshments will be provided by the HSA.

Please try to complete at least two parts of a home learning challenge each week, this will support learning at school and improve your child's progress. Along with reading every night, your child will be given some High Frequency Words (HFWs) to practise reading and spelling at home. These words will be linked to your child's RWI group and will help your child read fluently.

If you have any old unwanted telephones at home, please send them in to support our learning through play. Thank you.

Reading Books!

As the children are becoming more confident at story telling, they will be coming home with Pink banded books. These books will have simple sentences in, don't be alarmed that the children cannot read them! Share the story with your child, encourage them to point to the words as you read them and repeat each sentence to you. The children will naturally start to recognise some common words in the books or recognise a pattern in the story. Enjoy this quality time together!

Trikes & Scooters Wanted!!

Reading Books!! - 23.09.19

Throughout this week, we will be giving out reading books to every child in Reception. The reading books will just have pictures in to start with, to get the children used to the characters and the process of bringing their book in everyday. The Reading books will be coming home in a folder, along with a Reading Record - these MUST be in school everyday. Each morning your child will take their folder out of their bag and place it into a basket, we will then read and sign any comments from parents and change books when necessary. Please ensure you are reading/sharing you child's book with them at home at least 3 times a week. Thank you! Miss Mallin
