Your Family Recipes

Thank you for sending in your special family recipes. I will upload them below so that you can have a go at following each others' recipes and baking some yummy goodies! Please send me photos of the recipes you've tried. 

Jessica's Great Nana's Bread and Butter Pudding


  • Half a pint(ish) full fat milk
  • Half a pint (ish) double cream
  • Teaspoon-ish of vanilla 
  • 4 large eggs
  • 3 tablespoon (ish) sugar
  • 8 slices stale white crusty bread
  • A blob of softened butter plus extra for greasing
  • Handful of mix sultanas and currants or other dried fruit
  • Lemon zest 


       Heat oven to gas 4


  1. Heat the cream and milk in a pan to just below boiling. 
  2. Whisk eggs and sugar in a bowl.
  3. Slowly pour milk and cream mix over eggs, stirring until smooth. 
  4. Mix in vanilla. 
  5. Cut crusts off bread and butter both sides.
  6. Cut into triangles and lay half in a buttered ovenproof dish. 
  7. Sprinkle over half of the fruit and lemon zest. 
  8. Lay the rest of the bread on top and sprinkle over remaining fruit and zest. 
  9. Pour the custard over the bread and leave to soak for half an hour. 
  10. Sprinkle over some sugar and bake until golden brown and puffed up.

William's Grandma's Pudding

Derin's family recipe for 'Puff Puff'



500g Plain flour

7g yeast

1tsp Nutmeg

150g Sugar

Vanilla essence (optional)

Pinch of Salt

Vegetable oil for frying

400ml warm water



Mix all the dry ingredients together in a mixing bowl.

Add warm water until you get a slight watery paste and leave to rise for 30mins.

Heat oil in a frying pan until it is hot and use hand to scoop the batter in ball shapes into the oil and

fry until evenly brown. Set aside on kitchen towel to absorb excess oil.
